PoE2 Endgame Bosses Guide
Endgame bosses in Path of Exile 2 represent the ultimate challenge. Patch 0.5 Return of the Ancients completely restructures the endgame with the Fortress, new Pinnacle encounters, and the terrifying Arbiter of Divinity. This guide covers every major endgame boss.
The Fortress - New Endgame Hub
The Fortress is a massive endgame location introduced in patch 0.5. It contains:
- Six sealed regions each with multiple map areas
- Atlas Passive Points tied to the new Atlas tree
- Unique mechanics not found elsewhere in the Atlas
- Two Pinnacle bosses (Arbiter of Ash and Arbiter of Divinity)
Accessing the Fortress
- Interact with a Precursor Tower to trigger a world event
- Massive walls rise from the ground, forming the Fortress
- Work through outer wings to Eastern and Western Enigma Chambers
- Defeat the Arbiter of Ash to unlock the central area
- Collect keys from Matriarch Hall and Patriarch Hall
- Use keys at Origen Tower engine to access the elevator
Arbiter of Ash
Overview
The Arbiter of Ash is now an early structured Pinnacle challenge within the Fortress. First encounter guarantees progression and fragment rewards for Tablet upgrades.
Strategy
- This is your gateway fight - learn the mechanics
- After the initial encounter, future appearances are randomized
- Requires solid resistances and T15 map-level gear
Preparation Checklist
- 75% all elemental resistances (Fire priority)
- T15 map-level gear and defenses
- 5,000+ life or equivalent effective health pool
- Functional flasks with full charges
Difficulty: 4/5
Arbiter of Divinity - The New Pinnacle Boss
Overview
The Arbiter of Divinity is the centerpiece Pinnacle encounter of patch 0.5. This multi-phase aerial battle is essential for full Atlas progression. It is significantly harder than the Arbiter of Ash and represents a genuine achievement to defeat.
Location
Origen Tower, accessed after defeating the Arbiter of Ash and collecting keys from both Matriarch and Patriarch Halls.
Phase 1 - Ground and Aerial Combat
The Arbiter mixes regular attacks with powerful special abilities:
| Attack | Description | How to Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Lightning Orb | Ball spews projectiles in infinity pattern | Stand in center or roll to outside |
| Chest Beam | Two swings then lightning beam from chest | Roll behind him after both swings |
| Dive Bomb | Spear out, spin, slam tracking you | Stay behind him, time rolls |
| Spear Blast | Throws spear, rushes, then large AoE | Stay away, watch for dark ground shape |
| Divine Clones | Copies block arena, ring slash if close | Stay far from clones or roll through |
| Lightning Revolution | Spear in ground, orbits creating tether | Stay inside middle circle, follow flight direction |
At 40-50% health, the Arbiter absorbs light from a pillar, restoring to full health and losing his wings.
Phase 2 - Grounded Battle
After transformation, the fight becomes ground-based but more intense:
- Divine Power orbs appear around arena edges - collecting grants temporary invincibility
- Multiple Arbiter enemies continuously spawn and pursue you
- Use invincibility windows for damage or recovery
| Attack | Description | How to Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Ground Slam | Heavy melee with wide AoE | Roll away, watch for ground indicator |
| Spear Sweep | Wide spinning attack | Keep distance, roll through gaps |
| Lightning Storm | Persistent AoE zones | Constantly reposition |
| Clone Barrage | Multiple clones with coordinated attacks | Focus movement, use invincibility orbs |
Preparation Requirements
Minimum gear:
- 75% Lightning Resistance (critical - most damage is lightning)
- Completed 4th Ascendancy class points
- Comfortable running T15 maps
- High life or life/ES hybrid
- Full flask setup (healing opportunities are limited)
Build considerations:
- Build must be mobile - the Arbiter is very mobile
- Skills that can reliably target a moving enemy, or high movement speed to chase
- Unlimited attempts - learn at your own pace
Strategy Tips
- Phase 1: Stay behind the Arbiter whenever possible. His back is vulnerable.
- Chest Beam timing: Wait for both swings, then roll behind.
- Lightning Revolution: Stay close to the spear in the center. Follow his flight direction.
- Phase 2: Use Divine Power orbs wisely. Do not waste invincibility on dodging - use it for damage windows.
- Add management: The continuous Arbiter spawns in Phase 2 are manageable if you keep moving. Do not let them surround you.
- Site of the Chosen: Before the fight, check for the free passive point at the back of the Tower.
Difficulty: 5/5
Trial of Chaos Encounters
The Trial of Chaos features powerful bosses that can also be tamed by Spirit Walker players:
Notable Trial Bosses
| Boss | Stats | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chetza | 313% Life, 500% Damage | Tornado ability, enormous AoE. Flying. |
| Scourge of the Skies | 288% Life, 250% Damage | Original tornado source. Act 4 location. |
| Bahlak, the Sky Seer | 250% Life, 333% Damage | Flying with tornado summon. |
These encounters test your build’s AoE handling and single-target damage simultaneously.
General Endgame Boss Tips
- Unlimited attempts - learn mechanics without pressure
- Resistances first - never enter a pinnacle fight uncapped
- Flask management - bring enough charges for multiple attempts
- Movement skills - essential for dodging complex mechanics
- Watch for ground indicators - most damage has telegraphs
