PoE2 Endgame Gear & Economy Guide — Runes of Aldur Mid-to-Late League Edition

Complete Runes of Aldur endgame guide covering farming tier list (Grand Expedition 10-20 div/hr), putrefaction crafting mechanics, investment currency ladder, item level breakpoints, best-in-slot gear priorities, and economy inflation strategy.

PoE2 Endgame Gear & Economy Guide — Runes of Aldur Mid-to-Late League Edition

The Runes of Aldur league has settled into a clear mid-to-late season meta. If you’re looking to optimize your endgame progression, this guide covers the farming routes that actually produce currency, the crafting methods that generate profit, the investment ladder that protects your wealth from inflation, and the per-slot gear priorities that apply across every meta build.

All prices are current as of August 3, 2026. The economy moves fast — always verify before making large purchases.

Farming Routes — Where the Currency Actually Comes From

S-Tier: Grand Expedition + Runes of Aldur

The undisputed king of currency farming at 10-20 divines per hour. The 0.5.4 patch introduced a new 24-node Expedition/Runes of Aldur Atlas tree that pushed Grand Expeditions to the top of the tier list. With optimized Atlas mastery and bulk flipping, the ceiling reaches as high as 50 divines per hour — though that figure requires significant investment.

Key tip: 8-mod Waystones give the best loot, and T15 maps in Grand Expeditions already reach area level 81, meaning you still drop iLvl 82 exceptional bases without needing expensive T16 waystones. The cheapest setup is to craft your own 70% effect waystones with 6 modifiers and corrupt them after.

S-Tier (Lazy): Vaal Temple → Atziri

Atziri, the Red Queen sits at the end of the Vaal Temple, and her Vault now drops the new Orb of Sacrifice on top of the usual Vaal currency. The effort-adjusted return is elite: no tablets to roll, no towers to place, no biome hunting. Run one every couple of maps as a side income with zero investment. It won’t top the active-farming charts, but the passive return per effort hour is unmatched.

A-Tier: Abyss

Abyss farming produces roughly 20 divine per hour (30+ for very fast builds), driven by Omens of Light (~12.83 Div each), Omens of Abyssal Echo, raw currency, and Heart of the Well diamonds. The right-hand side of the Atlas tree is recommended, with Amanumu as the guaranteed faction.

B-Tier: Map Juicing with Tablets & Towers

On paper, fully juiced maps out-earn everything. In practice, tablets are notoriously hard to sustain — unlike PoE1 scarab strategies that self-fund, a good tablet setup rarely drops enough tablets to keep itself running. Only recommended if you genuinely enjoy the optimization game.

Item Level Breakpoints — Farm Smarter, Not Harder

Understanding iLvl breakpoints is critical for efficient gearing. You don’t need to upgrade at every tier — farm lower tiers until your gear is strong enough to skip ahead:

TieriLvlWaystoneKey Unlocks
Tier 165Ancient Waystone 130% MS boots, +2 minion/crit helm, +2 melee gloves
Tier 771Refined Waystone 2Up to 40% resistances on all gear slots
Tier 1175Pristine Waystone 1Max flat damage mods, +3 skill levels start dropping
Endgame82T15+ Grand ExpeditionT1 MS + T1 res on boots (the BIS breakpoint)

Progression strategy: Spend real time gearing in Tier 1 until you’re comfortable, then jump to Tier 7, then Tier 11. Farming in the middle tiers isn’t as productive. For boots specifically, iLvl 82 is the absolute top tier (T1 MS + T1 res), but strategically keeping items at lower iLvl can improve your odds of hitting targeted mods if you can’t afford iLvl 82 bases.

Putrefaction Crafting — The Most Accessible Profit Method

How It Works

Omen of Putrefaction is an Abyss drop that, when combined with Desecration, replaces all existing modifiers on an item with up to 6 unrevealed Desecrated modifiers and corrupts the item. Each modifier reveal gives you 3 choices to pick from. The item becomes Corrupted after putrefaction — no further modifications possible.

The Bone System

The Well of Souls Desecration system uses three tiers of bones and four flavor types:

Bone tiers:

The Money Craft: Putrefaction Boots

The most popular and profitable putrefaction craft targets undesecreated, unrevealed Sekhema Sandals at iLvl 82:

MetricValue
Base itemSekhema Sandals (iLvl 82)
Investment (no Echoes)~1.5 divines for ~12 pairs
Investment (with Echoes)~20 divines per pair
Typical sellable pair5-35 divines
All-T1 god-tier pair100-150 divines

Target prefixes: high Energy Shield, mana, 30%+ movement speed. Target suffixes: intelligence, rarity, all-elemental resistances. This method is credited to player ASaVeQ, who reportedly cleared roughly 50 divines in profit in one session.

Step-by-step:

  1. Choose a strong base (iLvl 78+, preferably 82)
  2. Max out quality and add sockets
  3. Apply the appropriate supporting bone (Rib for armour, Jawbone for weapons)
  4. Activate Omen of Putrefaction in your inventory
  5. Use Desecration on the item — all modifiers are replaced
  6. Reveal each modifier, choosing the best of 3 options
  7. The item is now Corrupted — no further changes possible

Investment Ladder — Protecting Your Wealth from Inflation

The Problem

Every single season of PoE 2, the economy is in complete shambles by week 2-4. Divine Orbs devalue fast, and Exalted Orbs become nearly worthless. One player reported buying a Hinekora’s Lock for 900 divines, and 48 hours later the same item was going for 1,285 divines — a 385 divine gain “just by doing nothing,” compared to less than 100 divines from actively farming maps over the same period.

The Anti-Inflation Ladder

Store your wealth by upgrading through the currency tier ladder rather than holding raw Divine Orbs:

  1. Tier 1 — Omen of Abyssal Echo (entry level, accumulate first)
  2. Tier 2 — Omen of Whittling / Omen of Light (mid-tier store of value)
  3. Tier 3 — Hinekora’s Lock (high-value, rare, holds price well)
  4. Tier 4 — Mirror of Kalandra (ultimate wealth preservation)

Strategy: Save up Abyssal Echoes until you can convert to a Whittle or Light. Save up Whittles until you can convert to a Hinekora’s Lock. Save Hinekora’s Locks until you can convert to a Mirror.

The Defense Meta — What Changed in 0.5

Pure ES Is Dead

The 0.5 patch fundamentally changed the defense meta:

The New Standard: Hybrid Defenses

Hybrid Evasion/ES or Armor/ES is now the standard across all four S-tier ascendancies (Spirit Walker, Martial Artist, Deadeye, Invoker). You need multiple defensive layers and you need to actually dodge mechanics.

Resistance Caps

Content LevelElemental ResChaos Res
Early maps75% cappedAt least 0%
Mid-game (yellow maps)75% cappedAim for 30-50%
Red maps / T15+75% cappedPrioritize pushing higher
8-mod / Nightmare maps75% capped75% cap is ideal

Items like Loreweave can push all resistance caps (including chaos) to 81% — a significant survivability boost for endgame builds.

Spirit: The Forgotten Stat

Spirit has become critical for aura-based and caster builds:
